Can anyone recommend a kit with a few sockets and spanners

For a simple one box kit for small jobs this takes a bit of beating. Teng is quality stuff

I bought a teng 1/2inch socket set thats a bit rough and ready but handy. It does metric and imperial but is only in a small box. Also bought some Stahlwille spanners for combine as they have different metric sizes on each end so work well on claas machines..

As above Bahco are very good sets and good value I would say,I have similar except it has Allen keys as opposed to the wrenches, beauty of sets like that is you put all the pieces back when used and so less likely to lose odd sockets etc along with my homemade spanner tray ,8mm to 36mm,both are always in the back of my truck along with screw drivers and ratchet spanners in sets

I have the same as this but it must be nearly 20 years old now and I wouldn’t be without it. box is knackered so all tools sit in it like 2 trays just got a socket rail for sockets so I can just make sure there all there when out in field I Just add a set off Allen keys, circlip pliers and a hammer and your away and can sort most minor jobs with it out in field

The Halfords advanced stuff is good. Best wait till a bank holiday weekend or offer for a good price. Their ratchets used to be the same as draper expert, sealey premier etc. Although they are lifetime guarantee, the ratchet mechanism isn’t covered, but you can buy the repair kit for a few pound.
Those bahco sets look well. As mentioned above, a box is handy, and or socket rail so you can see that you have everything before you pack up.

Decent Socket Set and Cheap "Smash On" Spanners.

I've Bahco socket sets. And the remains of a Silverline set which was utter sh!t I bought after a load of decent stuff was stolen... as i "Modify" or break the Silverline I swap it for something decent.

i have the same but in 2 separate sets. they are fairly good.
I have a fairly basic 1/2" bahco set but does all I need on farm. I'm a $h!t mechanic though. My brother has same sockets and adapters as mine but a set of scanners in top half of box. Pretty basic would just be ten and only goes up to 20 but enough to get you out of a fix.

I'm a half decent spanner man and my son is a vw time served mechanic who is now workshop foreman with Aberdeen's biggest breakdown firm. He has a fortune invested in tools , mostly snapon so my lot look a bit measly but always do the job. I remember an old mechanic saying that if you can't swear you are no mechanic 😀

I can swear! I just have no patience. Normally when I'm trying to fix stuff it's in a rush to get it going again before rain so pressure on. Which doesn't help. If someone told me I had all day to do it I wouldn't panic and lose it!

Depends what it's for.

For carrrying with me I recently went on an Amazon and eBay hunt and kitted out a toolbox with most things for around £80 I think.

Picked up a really good socket set in Lidl of all places a few years ago. Has ¼, ½ and ¾ socket set from 5mm to 46mm if I remember and all sockets are 6 point.

There's a set being sold just now that has sockets, spanners etc in one box
