Ha! I’m just about to do the same thing.

I figure, the best way to vent it but keep it quiet is to use baffle plates with foam either side to absorb.noise. Not sure what genny you have. Mine I’ve just got is a 23hp twin lister. Not the quietest that’s for sure.

It's a 44 kva fg wilson. Maybe should have bought a silent one but couldn't miss this one. Police station standby 30 hours.

I get why you couldn’t turn it down. I thought Mine was pretty low at 338 hours [emoji23] like you, possibly should have bought a silent one but I have these stillsges which lend them self to having a genny secured to them with detachable sides. Need to now build a enclosure so as not to wake the whole village when it’s running. 40kva would have been a bit big for my needs but should have maybe gone 24kva ish. Live and learn.

I’ll take a picture tomorrow and put it on. They are 6-7ft long by 4-5 wide. Designed for countax mowers being shipped. A foot in the middle will allow it to hold well over a tonne.

Nice machine. Like new! Looks like there are a few there!
Yeah if you can.... 2004. Only yearly test hours. The fella hires a lot out, and he got these just to sell on. I suppose if you're in that job, you know where all the treasures are. Me and a mate done a deal on the both. Mine with 30 hours the other with 50.... back to the box you're on about. I kind if thought about one of these, but they're a pretty penny aswell.

Quite a size as well. The stillages are easily moved with a forklift. Mine has a frame similar to yours that I’ll mount to the stillsge. Then put posts in which are 40x40 box and put another stillage on top as a roof as they are stackable. Nice galv tin round the outside maybe with ply then insulation and deadening on the inside. Plenty of places for air inlet and make an exhaust port. Find a nice big silencer which will make it lovely.

Oh yeah I'm with you now [emoji108]. Thought you meant like a metal box.

More like an acoustic cabinet that is movable. Its always handy to be able to move a genny else where for one season or another. Personally wouldn’t want one fixed in a room.

jesus thats a mint genny there simmy, not many secondhand like that.

if your still stuck ill take a few pictures of the 30kva super silent one i have here if you shout, im looking at it this 5 yrs but i never studied how they went about it.
theres 4 doors on mine for access which you really do need.
iirc they made a box but with both ends not cumming up fully to the top then they put another box about a foot longer with the vent at the bottom so the sound has to travel up and then down but thats a total guess, i know one thing, its damn quiet.

Yeah I know its mint [emoji108]. 1004 perkins non turbo, leroy somer alternator. The dogs gooleys as a lad told me. Been looking for a few months. I wanted either perkins or iveco. Iveco supposed to be brilliant on fuel [emoji106]. And either Leroy or Stamford alternator. And I wont go wrong. But any thing newer than about 2010, the alternators are made in China. After 2000 hours they are fooked and can't be fixed apparently! [emoji90]....
Yeah put a few pics on if you can. Coz honestly this is noisy.

I sheeted round my new genny to keep it nice and shiny and out sound foam in the inside so it's double quiet.
