Not really, the generator itself has the foam in it's grey box. When I bought it I got the man to throw 2 extra sheets in so I could put it inside the frame i was making round it.

Is it definitely foam? As I looked in a big one today (450 kva) and it was like rubber boards. With packed fibre in between

this id be close id imagine, and if not their stating they are the agents for the uk's largest acoustic foam manufacturer so someone there is bound to be able to set you on the right road id imagine.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ACOUSTIC...=item2583ffc08d:g:aEcAAMXQMTlRZthI:rk:14:pf:0

whats on the inside of mine is similar but with like a thin film of plastic type material on the face of it, id assume its to keep the foam half right over time as iirc foam on its own will kind of disintegrate slightly but it all seems to go that way in time neways.

Aye like a black spongey foam, I'll get a pic in the morning. You could do it with 50mm kingspan will do the same job I would say.
From what I've read on the internet. Kingspan is no good. My idea was insulated tin sheets to make a hut inside the workshop. I don't want to go to all the work and then it's no better. Coz I will be pee'd off [emoji23]

I’ll take some photos of our super silent and the sound deadening foam inside the cabinet tomorrow.

Ours is housed in a separate shed which is itself further sound deadended.

The trick is not to have any straight lines for the sound to travel through, always have “bends” for any ventilation etc, and then use mineral wool or sound deadening foam on any hard surfaces.

Some pictures will explain it much better....

I’ve got this, I might be persuaded to part with for the right money, super silent, ventilation fan, both ends fully removable for access, two personnel doors, cabinet 20’ long by about 10’6” wide plus an extra 18” for ducts on each end,

Ha! I’m just about to do the same thing.

I figure, the best way to vent it but keep it quiet is to use baffle plates with foam either side to absorb.noise. Not sure what genny you have. Mine I’ve just got is a 23hp twin lister. Not the quietest that’s for sure.
I've got one made from an engine & chassis from a Major, coupled to an old PTO genny without the gearbox & mounted on a set of axles from a 4 wheel trailer. Fudging thing doesn't half make a racket - I've had to put it in a separate building to cut the noise down! I'm just in the process of upgrading it with a throttle controller to keep the speed right as it warms up, then I need to replace the fuel tank with something better... replace the air cleaner... make a new exhaust ... why didn't I just buy a boxed super silent? :banghead::banghead::banghead:

I’m starting my enclosure today as I collected all the remaining control last night from where I bought it from. Going to do a double bund enclosure so the air is drawn from the opposite end of the outer bund. It’ll travel round the void between the inner and outer which will have foam attached to it. Outer and inner doors to make it super silent. All to be made from shuttering ply then galv tinned. Steel will take to long and cost to much. Even with light weight. Timber will help absorb the noise. It’ll be kept under a canopy so not open to the elements to much.

Would have a look at one. Long way to ship to me. Would be up around £800 by the time it arrives. They are quite bulky is my other concern. My machine is only small. The stillages I have lend them selfs to a genny box. Genny Fits on perfectly. Will be smaller than 8x4x4 once done.

that sir was a steal at 600 quid, worth every penny, indeed you'd spend that all day long and still have only a middlin job when you'd be done never mind about time.
health to wear as they say.(y)

Was a steal at 550 pal.
You couldn't even make one for that. Also has a 1200 litre tank. I was gonna put a diesel tank In my shed, but mights aswell suck out of that tank. For the little I use. Isn't quite finished yet. Tested it without the exhaust on. And it's still fairly quiet. Just need to gather some pipe up from some were and we'll be sorted.

Yeah got mine washed out. Gonna put in line filter on and keep an eye on it. I would paint it now but haven't got wired up yet. So it'll have to wait. ‍
