Run it once a month, in all honesty since I got it after storm Arwen it has already ran for 44 hours due to power outages so didn't have to run it to test it worked on the preventive maintenance regime.

We said about an engine driven one as a backup but was told to save our money & just have a pto one 🤷🏼‍♂️
When your in the parlour or in the dwelling house and everything goes black you just start counting, 1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi.......everything always comes alive again by 5 Mississippi. Spend the extra money, engine driven every time.

At least with a pto one you know it's going to start. 😉
Yeah but the PTO shaft has been robbed off it to something else and all the tractors are hooked up to something and low on fuel and the new bunded fuel station complete with 240v pump you bought to satisfy red tractor doesn't run without leccy, and you have to go out in the middle of the storm to sort it all out, if you are even home at the time or its 3.00am.

All the above sounds as if it's from bitter experience...? ;)

Was able to buy red for about 65p so closer to £40. Not sure how many kWh we use to be honest. Biggest problem was that the generator had to run 24/7 to keep computer and alarm system etc running. Haven't had an electric bill since we got connected to the mains but I doubt if it'll be as much as the generator was costing.
That's still pretty frugal fuel use per hour if it was running all day.

My main worry is the the tractor that runs the generator has to face due SW and looks straight out to sea. With 90+ mph gusts how do I get in the cab with loosing the door on a tractor? The puma has a silly 4 post cab with a massive sheet of glass for a door.
Does the Puma not have a PTO switch on the mudguard next to the buttons for lift arms?

Carefully placed bit of string in cab to throttle back from outside back of cab ?
