interesting what he thinks the price of meat should be , i do think we will end up somewhere like his vision , looking at elms proposals , and the cost of inputs, they will put an organic spin on food where we are flogging the enviro/ carbon angle , either way cheap food might be coming to an end

They estimate the true cost of german beef to be 80 euros per kg rather than the current 14 euro! If UK livestock farm made over 5 times the income imagine how life would be........ would scale down intensity.

Nonsense! The potato and chicken boys would pile in and they would have 10000 head per farm!
Spud price goes up a fiver and they plant an extra 30 acres!

Load of bollox , EU policy is cheap food , hence they subsidise EU farmers , let the market decide ....
read a theory about why we are enjoying good prices, for beef and lamb, it was precisely why no longer being in the EU, we are getting world prices. For certain the EU runs a very protective market, and has an 'isolationist type' policy. And prices have certainly not dropped, as predicted, but whether right or wrong, i'm happier where prices are.

You and others are totally missing the point the guy is making. Farm in a more eco-friendly way with lower inputs, lower stocking rates etc. and prices will rise so that you are still making a living. But it would need government support to prevent imports flooding in.

When did spud prices hit an all time high? in 1976 when the drought made sure there were hardly any!

Haven’t missed the point at all. I think he’s bang on. However, if beef was £60 per kg then everyone would be doing it, including all the farmers not currently in beef
