hi, just wondering if anyone tows a vehicle behind a tractor trailer/spreader etc? Dont know if its legal or anything like that, but it would be very handy to have transport instead of lugging the tractor home.

In all seriousness, by the time you've loaded up a vehicle, strapped it down, unloaded it, filled a bowser / fuel cube to refill the tractor, you've had time to get a fair way on the tractor.
Especially when you can sit at over 55k in a modern tractor :whistle: And that’s a good point about needing fuel when working away

Bloke that used to come round lime spreading used to put an old motorbike in the back of the spreader then drive back to his van every night load the bike in the back and go home was a big A and trailed 360 with grab @Cab-over Pete might know who it was. Also just remember someone putting an old cavalier on to a trailer with the loader and 2 straps was a bit of a relic of a car

Quite a few used to do that sort of thing.

Dad used to tow his old van on an A frame behind his MF 188 and spreader years ago.

It’s all illegal though I’m afraid. Basic rule of thumb, you can’t tow or carry a road fuel vehicle with a red diesel vehicle.

I take every machine home every night. I can fuel up, keep on top of maintenance and I know where it is, behind locked doors. I don’t have to rely on anybody else and I don’t have the expense or faff of another vehicle.

Try dismounting a four metre piggy back and front press and dual wheels every night to go home

I'm sure somewhere else you put a post about borrowing a wreck of a vehicle to go home in. And you didn't fill it with fuel but just knocked abit off bill but usually you top the tanks up when you use someone's vehicle

I know Ag-Bag UK have smart cars on their lorries 😂🤣 never seen anything so funny than 5 lads in 1 of them doing doughnuts across fields 😂

I know a lot of people who have cars/pickups behind the silage trailers and I always thought it was homemade A Frame and very illegal and then a campervan turned up here last year, elderly couple towing a car too.
