I think my rain gauge is questionable but probably got around 4” here so far.How much precip have you had now? You might be in for a boomer of a season
June is the rainy month, it’s not like it will likely rain all summer.

Just the red heat lights. When I picked them up the store only had clear ones so to keep them warm enough I needed to keep the clear ones on all night. 24 hour bright light and they don’t sleep muchWhat kind of light did you get? How come you are making a change from day light to night light?
So are you going to open a Twitter account for them so they can tweet ? ? ? ?Then it jumped down and did the whole process again
But it had to stop for a nap on the way.

I wonder if I put roosts down below it’d stay
I’m not that great at tweeting my stuff, can’t imagine running a chicken account for 8 weeks. So are you going to open a Twitter account for them so they can tweet ? ? ? ?
I've never given lighting a second thought. I do prefer the red one but I never noticed it made much difference in the chick's health. I just leave ir on until they are feathered out and then turn it off. When Ithey get about half feathered I open the sides of their brooder so they can get out and run around , but that is mostly because they are starting to get crowded.Just the red heat lights. They recommend 23 hours of daylight at first so I thought I’d be ok for a bit but I started losing chicks this week. Second one looked more like a heart issue so I hurried up and got the lights so I can make them sleep better than short naps.
Plus it’s only a matter of time in a small space with a bright light that they start picking each other. That’s a battle I don’t want to fight if I don’t have too.
Now all the heat lamps are red so I don’t need to worry about them getting cold when I darken it. They just get a normal light bulb sun.
So do you trade lights to do a day and night type of procedure, or just run the red and turn it off for a while?Nothing does well on 24 hour bright light. Even with people it will eventually mess with their stress levels and health. Down time to relax is needed.
Run the reds all the time. There’s a window for daylight and then just a normal lightbulb for once it gets dark. Shut that off when I go to bed.So do you trade lights to do a day and night type of procedure, or just run the red and turn it off for a while?
All the hardware and farm stores here have the red ones. If you can’t find them there the pet stores should have some. They probably are lower watts but if you’re already in a warmer place it’d be fine.Oh okay, I understand now. I'll have to look into changing my bulb, or perhaps changing the color. It was kind of pricey, They only had a sodium light when I picked up the chicks this year, $22. See what I can figure out.
Can't beat em, join em!Put in a stake to roost on. What’s the chances that’s the little barsteward there
