Getting a little dry

Given we are now, 1st June 18 to today closer to fifty percent of a normal years 570mm , the crops do still look very very good. While not overly sunny, it is getting towards 20 degrees most days. Even neighbours beans on ploughed land look good which would not be the case if it had been thirty degrees......

.....I'd still like some thirty degrees for harvest though .

Was in Italy this week and it was a lovely 31deg, that for August at least would be lovely

We have finally had some rain for measurable quantity. Seems like there have been nearly 4-5 times recently where around us has had 15mm or so and we have had about 1.5mm. Only 7mm in the gauge since beginning of yesterday, but at least it's something. I was beginning to wonder who I'd upset.

We only had 7mm yesterday as well James, seem to miss most of the meaningful stuff!

Bumper harvest coming up?!

Wheat looks good. Osr looks ordinary due to CSFB but not drought. Spring barley has already suffered with poor tillering so will not now suddenly catch up to do 8 t/ha on the thin bits. I'll walk the spring oats later but these were on gravel so may be patchy though I'm glad I gave them PGR as the rest are very thick.

Bumper harvest? Ask me in September but I'm more relaxed now thanks. An unsettled week ahead so I have no regrets at 2 x SDHIs on the wheat at T1 and T2.

Missed all the storms that had dropped a lot of rain round here last couple of weeks, had 9.8 km yesterday wish it would either rain properly or stay dry as lot of hay to make
