I’ve noticed that in my oats. Height wise they are all over the place.We've got oats knee high and shoulder high in the same field(s).
Much bigger variance than one normally expects just from the soil type difference alone.
What seems to have happened is that when the April drought first broke here on May 8th the dry bits were already for ear emergence but the wetter bits were still putting on straw and did another metre for luck.
Weather forecast said a months rain in a day next week in the East. It says three days heavy rain here.
