Getting a little wet

We've got oats knee high and shoulder high in the same field(s).

Much bigger variance than one normally expects just from the soil type difference alone.

What seems to have happened is that when the April drought first broke here on May 8th the dry bits were already for ear emergence but the wetter bits were still putting on straw and did another metre for luck.
I’ve noticed that in my oats. Height wise they are all over the place.
Weather forecast said a months rain in a day next week in the East. It says three days heavy rain here.

All barley and nearly all the wheat has had 3 growth regs here this spring , bloody glad it has , just nervous for the couple of fields that didn't get a late GR but lost the timing as the wind kept me out of the fields and had ear emergence when putting T2 on

More of my wheat is going down this morning, and we haven’t had the worst of it yet . It’s the variety Gravity as well!
Other varieties still standing at the moment .

Not very wet here. 7mm April, 25 May, 12 June so far. Going to miss most of it today.

However late October drilled Mulika going down, hybrid barley wont be far behind.

Two years ago barley went flat pre grain fill. Yielded close to two ton a hectare less than that which stayed stood until it brackled just prior to harvest. I'm praying to the gods mine stays up .

Don’t think I can ever remember my Winter Oat straw as short as it is this year. Barely over my knees and panicles emerginging/emerged.

First year growing oats here for many years. Was expecting loads of straw but most is just over knee high and out in ear.

Spring barley straw on the best bits is near waist high

A bit of Skyfall down here on some overlaps but nothing major yet, Went past some WB on Fri that looked a picture, waist height though, suspect that'll be flat already, will have to go past it again to see. Ground still dry here despite having 16mm the other day, could take an inch or two and still be fine. Just hope it knows when to stop.......
