It's meant as a tad tounge in cheek as was the original "Getting Concerned" thread started on 25th of Sept for which I was lambasted at the time,,,,,,,,,,, time will tell how much water there is to go under the bridge and may I just add that if you have a reasonable % planted then you might not be quite as concerned as a man who has nothing,,,,,,, but yes sometime to go yet

Given the problems you caused by starting that thread, do you not consider it a tad irresponsible buggering up any chance of getting Spring corn in too?

It’s only February and far too early for Spring sown cereals to do anything other than feed rooks and slugs. It’ll all change quickly when the sun comes out. Patience is a virtue they say.:)

Regarding the 3 crop rule, WW planted after 31st Jan is regarded as Spring Wheat agronomically (or supposed to be!). Why do they have to make it so complicated.

Are you sure it’s not variety specific? If I (in Wales) have to use Winter & Spring Barley as 2 of my crops, I am required to submit seed tickets by May 15th to authenticate it.

If the date thing is right, I would have thought a cutoff date makes it far simpler tbh, not to mention allowing a degree of ‘flexibility’ from when choose to record your drilling date.?

I've been upbeat all winter.

2000 & 2012 we could not drill our winter barley on the heavier land. But both years we used the seed on lighter land (ex veg/potato land) late Feb, it cropped really well.

Very little hope (some it is light land) of repeating that this year.

Hopefully we get good drying in March, the back end only gets wetter. We’ve got 1700 acres to drill! (Only 300 more than the last 3 years). Ready for full on attack mode!

yes I am starting to get concerned again not for winter crops but for spring cropping.
its not going to be an early start now, ground has been hammered with rain, no frost & spring cropping is our main earner.

Wheat all planted in bad order, now water logged.

Drainer coming on Wednesday.
