forget atv....fencing most important....then somewhere to catch them up......a little shelter would be handy

A few more things needed if you’re doing it right:
Shearing machine, hand shears
Lambing gates to pen off problems, heat lamp to keep problems alive, feeding tube to feed problems, gloves, gel, TLD feeds
Medicines - ABs, painkillers & parasite treatment, plus equipment to inject/ apply etc
Castration pliers, tagging pliers, tags, spare tags
Footbath, handling system
Livestock trailer, vehicle with towbar

Plus a whole lot of life skills to utilise the above.

Have a look what everyone else has got around you, then go to the nearest local farm (not a small holding) and offer to buy 20 ewe lambs when they are weaned and if you are lucky to might have 18 to sell again next year and spend the same money on 25.
I have a couple of people that I do this with from 10 to 150 ewe lambs, I do any work that needs doing (charged at proper rates) and they get to have some nice heathy sheep that they can talk about at dinner party's in there paddocks.
Don't buy rubbish old ewes off the internet, these people are just trying it on.

you don't need an atv on 10ac....unless you want one..........bucket train them so no dog.........run a 50m second fence 18ft out from perimeter fence then subdivide with hurdles for handling........footbath/foot shears  ....hopefully not:unsure:

buy decent sheep from one source then close the flock buying in only rams....changing every two years

Thanks for all your help - I do want to buy some ewes, fatten their lambs and then sell the lambs on while keeping the ewes. What do I need to do with regards to EID, and would herdwicks be a good, low maintenance breed (I work a full time job?). Could I make any profit?
