Getting that finish on lambs?

I have around 100 lambs I bred this year mid-march born, some will need to hang around for a while
but most of them are in pretty good shape and should not take much to finish 50kg ish
Just wondering what's the best way to go?
they are on reasonable looking grass, do I fetch them in and put on a finishing pellet and good hay? or leave them out and feed the lot
as I was thinking of bringing the best 30 or so in. What do you guys do? would be nice to know Thanks
 
They would come to 50kgs once finished, biggish framed
Just wondered how other folk go on finishing lambs,, or is it really a case of having a cheaper home-milled feed? no reason why they can't be fed in the field I guess

As above I never go by finish just by weight. All of mine go deadweight to farmers fresh and probably 80% hit spec.
 
Is that from the mart report? One reject pure continental ram lamb sent to cull perhaps?

I certainly would be basing a finishing plan on that sale at this time of year (maybe next March/April though….).

mainly pens of Beltex making the better price £135-£147 I was there watching trade and of course seeing the heavy lambs up around £140, why would anyone want to sell at £90 as stores, I know nothing, but I'm sure it won't take that much to get them fit

I haven't seen Suffolk lambs anywhere near that much money, they have been £110/£115 if they are 50kg, fit as fire, tight skinned and you are very lucky.
Iv personally picked up enough dead 45kg lambs in October to make me sell as stores.

The Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland (HSENI) alongside the Farm Safety Partnership (FSP), has named new farm safety champions and commended the outstanding work on farm safety that has been carried out in the farming community in the last 20 years.

Two of these champions are Malcom Downey, retired principal inspector for the Agri/Food team in HSENI and Harry Sinclair, current chair of the Farm Safety Partnership and former president of the Ulster Farmers’ Union (UFU).
