Giddiness and vertigo.

How strange that this topic has just come up

Went to get up from the armchair last night and everything started to spin so rapidly sat down again feeling quite unwell. If I leaned forward it got worse, but not too bad if I laid back in the chair. No other symptoms at all apart from slightly raised BP - probably due to anxiety.
After a while, still feeling very wobbly, I rang for an ambulance. Had to speak to a doctor who just checked that I wasn’t having a stroke, then told me to contact my GP in the morning. Eventually managed to stagger to bed without falling.
Still a bit wobbly this morning and Dr has just been and given me a prescription for the ear crystal thing.
Told her that I’d been having balance problems for a while coupled with ongoing lower back problems and that my back man in UK advised not only a lower back MRI but also MRI for neck problems. But she poo- pooed that.

So we’ll see what happens, but it put the fear of God into me last night as I’m normally not in bad nick for nearly 74.

Vertigo seems to be more common than some of us thought. I drove a couple of miles today for the first time in a fortnight and was fine but I'm still walking as if I was on a rough ferry sea crossing.
I can't make out which ear is causing it, so don't want to do the manoeuvre in case it upsets the side that's currently fine. The eye test hasn't worked for me.
Was taking to someone else tonight that had this in the past and he'd cleared up after about three weeks on its own. He was much younger than me and by the sound of it had it quite a bit worse.

Definitely worth going to see doc. Same thing happened to me 2 years ago, leapt out of bed too quickly - whole room was spinning and could hardly stand! Couldn't walk in a straight line for a week and not safe to drive. Self diagnosed as you did, doc confirmed - crystals had dislodged in my ear. I was able to tell doc which ear it felt like it was affecting - she did the head manoeuvre thing - didn't seem to work straight away but gradually over a few days it improved dramatically. Still have to be a bit steady getting out of bed, no more leaping up that's for sure!

Had something similar years ago
Everything spinning and feeling sick
Think doctor called it vertigo and give me some small tablets which you placed one under the tongue to disolve as and when needed
Hope you get sorted
