Interesting threat, hope I'm not too late to comment. I agree with Chris F, there is an advantage to be had by standing out from the crowd by offering something slightly different like this converted boat, Sonia. I thought that converting an old narrow boat would be a good option as it has a flat bottom so would be easier to support, they also have integrated toilet (often cassette toilets that you find in motorhomes), showers and kitchens. They also usually have wood burners which could help extend their season. I'd love to know what you all think of this idea?

@Jfh I'm looking at the lighting side right now as the evenings are drawing in. I'll probably acquire something during the winter and it'll be LED/solar/battery, so very simple.
I'm trying to be as 'off grid' as is possible but this is a slow process. I'm having a solar hot water panel fitted onto the barn I have been creating this last 18 months and I'll make more decisions as I progress. We're finding that young trees start to look good in year six so I have a few more years before the site is how I picture it I'n my minds eye. The earth bank to the North and East and planted with wild flowers is a success too. There are young trees on the top of this too.
We had a little gathering/party yesterday evening, with 20 people inside, and I was pleasantly surprised with the very positive comments. This means folk will love to stay and pay to do so:D I just need for them to have a pleasant washing facility and that will take next year to finish.

I visited a friend who showed me a reel of 12v LED lights. I liked them a lot. You can snip them in certain places which is interesting. I'm going to fit these along with a little solar panel on the bank which will charge a 'leisure' battery, similar to what we have on our temporary electric fence. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/320681128...49&var=510029176777&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
I'm sure this will provide me with enough light as the solution with LED's is to add more if you need to. I may even play with the colours but I'm operating on the KISS principal at the moment.
Good to hear you have pusher your idea on! I'm planning a 3.0m x 5.0m shed too for the cooking, covered eating area for wet days and winter storage purposes, but it has only got as far as pictures/ideas on my computer! I've yet to do any sort of cutting list.

Thats cool man. Mine is going to be totally off grid with no access to electric, what you are thinking is exactly what i was going to do. solar panels, trickle charge type thing to a battery of some sort or other. Mine is going to be internally 4.2mx2.1m so its going to be tight enough. but i cant make the final design on the inside until i see it physically.
