The HGCA has completely copped out on septoria nodurum for years past - currently every variety on their list is given a provisional (lack of information) [6], except Bennington [7] and Extase [-].

Hopefully, they'll now be quick enough on their feet to see that this year's extreme weather allows them an entirely unforeseen and golden opportunity at last to capture some very useful information.

Fortunately, in addition to the Bennington, we've still got 25% planted here with Exsept.

It's still quite obvious to me that, given current weather conditions, septoria n. is still by far the biggest threat to WW yields and quality this time, but almost nobody's yet woken up to it.

I'll check back here in October.

Yet more ideal septoria conditions widespread again, today.

Been looking all round this morning the various varieties grown here this time, in decreasing order of current bad effect :-

Extase
Graham
Diego
Bennington
Alchemy
Exsept

- the first three being grown mainly for their septoria tritici resistance and the last three for their septoria nodorum resistance.
