Glycerine or whey in digester?

Sorry, but I am very wary of claims that enzymes increase gas yields, how can they ?

If you add enzymes to an existing AD plant and increase gas yields by 13%, the first call should be to your AD technology supplier.

Where does the gas come from ?

I am not the expert on this (cleverer people than me involved) I would be happy to send across the results from the trials we have done (as I say some have been very successful and some not) and you can make a judgement?

I have listened at meetings many many times regarding how enzymes increase gas production. They could of course help IF there is VS to attack, if VS is available, then of course the system is either not designed correctly or is operated badly.

In addition, breaking down cellulose quickly, speeds up the digestion process, BUT this is considered when calculating operating temp, OLR (tank size) and retention time as part of design. (or should be )

In the event of a plant being PAS110 accredited, the Residual Biogas Potential limit is very low (I think 0.25 l/ g VS).

So, perhaps how enzymes are presented and the benefits needs to change.

Beware of the EA classifying biodiesel glycerol as waste. We feed our own whey and the digester quite likes it
