3lt normally for volanteers smal grssed and blw but if I've got thistles, wild chrysathamum or couch I use up to 5lt but I think the most important thing is to us plenty of oil in the mix.

Oil will help but consider that damaging the plant cuticle with a lot of adjuvant might also inhibit uptake of the herbicide. There was a lot of discussion about tallow amine doing this around the time of it being removed from glyphosate during the cancer "scare"

Those waxy weeds might need an adjuvant though.

Has anyone done any strip trials with water conditoner? i.e. one strip up the field with, another adjacent without

Not personally, but heres a couple of decent slides i've managed to find in other presentations I've seen in the past. Obviously the top one is using X-Change and the bottom is just using Ammonium Sulphate. And I know they're big weeds but you get the idea!

I match the rate of active and adjuvant used to the size and nature of the weeds.

I use LI-700, I don't use oils, just don't be daft with the rate or you will turn the field orange in about 24 hours... I have seen it done by accident, looks like paraquat was used!

The time between spraying and cultivations also depends on the size of the weeds and what they are.

Tiny blackgrass shoots or volunteers do not require 900g of active to kill them- 1500g is enough to kill a flown blown grass ley,for example.

I would not personally even dare spray weeds of the size depicted above with only 2 litres of product, doesn't matter what version it is.

low water rates and a short time between mixing and spraying and active growth ie bright sunny day stubbles with only grass weeds under 3 leaf will all die with 1 litre plus water softener
usually use 1.5 litres plus water softener

the only problems I have is spraying in the spring when grasses are in stem extension so spray earlier or later

the other condition to be carefull is when it is wet and muddy wheels leave mud on the leaves

Agreed I would not advocate those rates on those massive weeds, I think they were trying to highlight the water conditioning effect.

The Lambsquarters (Fat hen) trial, the rate is equivalent to 3 L/ha of a 360g.

If there's cranesbill glyphosate isn't that great on it.

There will be more and more of this kind of caper occurring in future years. I would put money on it. Various weeds do not have the susceptibility to glyphosate we all assume they do, I think in future there will be more combination products with something else in or tank mix options. The Americans are already hot on this because of various reasons, RR traits being one poignant reason.

Ther'e Kyleo now.

Or make up a 24d glyphosate mix which may or may not be as effective
