Glyphosate shortage

There may be problems from China, factory closures, logistics ... etc. Without entering into any assessment or criticism, I point out that when I read about the shortage of glyphosate in this forum I was scared, but today in Spain there is all the glyphosate that you want to buy, yes, like almost everything, its price has risen .

Pondering LIAISON, the Green Book and CRD for mixtures that might be in better supply then single ai materials and whether the higher glyphosate prices make other materials previously too expensive worth considering assuming their label allows...

I am still of the opinion that it is a self inflicted shortage here. Agronomists were telling everybody to stock up on glyphosate here in the spring. People were ordering pallet loads, maybe 2 years supply up front. With a “just in time” supply chain that was enough to create a big transient shortage and it will probably take a year to get back to normal.

More people going down the DD route as well.
I watch Harry’s farm videos on YouTube , which I enjoy. But he mentions spraying with Glyphosate on almost every one .
He must be on here because in the last video he showed a pic of 3 old fords ploughing to compare what they used to do. He gave a credit to TFF for the pic .

Talking to a min-till farmer the other week and I use much less glyphosate with a DD system than they do with their min-till.

Yeah and the agronomists who didn’t tell their customers to stock up are now being asked why they didn’t.

This autumn, despite having a pallet of glyphosate here I haven’t used any at all post harvest/pre-drilling.

None on ploughed ground. None on direct drilled. Time will tell if that was the right choice.
It would be interesting to hear how you get on.

I am in southern Ireland and went to my local merchant about 4 weeks ago after reading here of glyphosate shortage to order some. He had plenty in stock I mentioned I read of shortages in UK. He said he had no issues in getting it. But price has risen dramatically. So could it be down to logistics of getting it into UK or a bit like your petrol shortage everyone order too much to stock up before price rise.

As I read above there is no shortage in Spain either.

Been told at work Glyphosate is being banned out of schools next year.
We usually mix with the paint when line marking pitches.
Also use a fair bit in knapsack around the paths and school yards.

Glyphosate not legally banned from schools grounds in the UK but councils may ban glyphosate if they wish from any of their premises. Banned from French school areas I believe.

I don't think glyphosate is approved for use in line marking. Have you found a product with an on-label recommendation? The only herbicide I can recall as being approved was glufosinate-ammonium, Kurtail Gold, now withdrawn.

People are using acetic acid based herbicides in the knapsack for the usual grounds maintenance tasks:
