GMB - Should schools ban meat.

My kids are given a menu choice at the start of every week , there u it s now a one meat free day. Per week and every meal choice is either meat or meat free. It’s weird as it highlights the meat in a very bad light as in it’s the meat that is the problem

schools should be offering a NOVA Group 1 (unprocessed or minimally processed food) one day a week,

• Natural, packaged, cut, chilled or frozen vegetables, fruits, potatoes, and other roots and tubers
• nuts, peanuts, and other seeds without salt or sugar
• bulk or packaged grains such as brown, white, parboiled and wholegrain rice, corn kernel, or wheat berry
• fresh and dried herbs and spices (e.g., oregano, pepper, thyme, cinnamon)
• fresh or pasteurized vegetable or fruit juices with no added sugar or other substances
• fresh and dried mushrooms and other fungi or algae
• grains of wheat, oats and other cereals
• fresh and dried herbs and spices
• grits, flakes and flours made from corn, wheat or oats, including those fortified with iron, folic acid or other nutrients lost during processing
• fresh, chilled or frozen meat, poultry, fish and seafood, whole or in the form of steaks, fillets and other cuts
• dried or fresh pasta, couscous, and polenta made from water and the grits/flakes/flours described above
• fresh or pasteurized milk; yoghurt without sugar
• eggs
• tea, herbal infusions
• lentils, chickpeas, beans, and other legumes
• coffee • dried fruits
• tap, spring and mineral water

Great learning opportunity, examine what the food does to our bodies, origins, recipes and then cook them.

This needs a campaign to bring these councils and schools to task. Can TFF not organise something. Our little lad did have a choice between veggie sausage and mince and gravy yesterday but what child of five actually has much idea of what they are being served up.

I don’t think there’s any doubt about this is there? Forcibly removing meat from the diet of children who are already being fed badly at home is tantamount to child abuse. For schools to be doing this is scandalous. Teachers are supposed to be educating our children not filling their minds full of media-led anti-information. We are storing up serious health problems and seeing the effects of this every day now. This will increase the speed of the breakdown of our children’s health. We are already sitting on a ticking timebomb of type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome. In the US it is estimated now that around 70% of the population could be pre-diabetic or diabetic. The US leads, we follow.
A vegan diet for children is banned in France under child health laws

im fine with a balanced diet but to start saying you must not eat this or we will not allow you to eat this isn't right. we are about 10 years away from process food overload in this county anyways, im just lucky my wife is a good good so we get a good balanced home cooked diet, given the long lines appearing at all the mcdonald's in the uk i dont think many can say that

At a time when public spending is under pressure, this multi-choice diet must be incredibly expensive to provide. And I hate to think how much waste there is.

Have you seen the state of the hound who is the Headmistress of the school in Lancashire that has already banned meat?

She doesn't exactly look like the picture of health, being fairly obese, so if that is what going vegan does for you then am oot!!!!
If she is concerned about the environment, perhaps she will want air travel stopped so that the children and parents will not be polluting the environment.

I think we officially passed the 50% processed food mark as a nation a while ago.
