I don't think the school will be feeding kids on kale and carrots.

As soon as anything out-of-season or imported goes on the plate, the price will rocket (no pun intended)
If anything like our local authority, the meals will be mass produced from the lowest cost inputs at a central kitchen, frozen, then reheated and delivered just in time on the day of consumption. When you’re in that marketplace, there is no in or out of season, it either arrives frozen or not frozen.
