Don't you just love these threads,

it's a bit like how long is a bit of string, or more to the point, what is it doing,
If its rowing grass up with a twin rota rake, in economy pto speed it needs to be less per hour than the tractor on the drag chopper in the same field,

The easiest answer is, and bet this answer is more on target than the other answers on this thread, is around £20 an hour more than you were thinking of charging

It's just a pricing exercise for my costings,
We can use a price without diesel if it makes things easier ,
Thought someone might know ,
Seemed quite a simple question

Used to be £30-35 before the world went mad, depends what the job is i would guess. An hour Lugging a silage trailer would be cheaper than an hour on a bedtiller etc. Usually do a deal and have abit of discount for day rates if its simple hauling

Fuel at £1 x amount (15) = £15
Bum on seat @£11?
Plus at least £12 for other things tyres , insurance etc.
Well that's £38 before anything is done or profit ( dirty word I know) but got to be a minimum of £45 hour.

I worked out the cost of running my 2.5 ton digger a few months back and I know im on white diesel but the cost an hour is very close to the figure quoted at start of the post.this machine cost would be early mid £30k today but can run it all year round.a 150 hp tractor needs to be around £70 hour but too many under cutting this rate.

So using the power of the internet it is telling me that at max power on the PTO a 6155R uses 8.6 US Gallons of fuel an hour

8.6 x 4.5 x 0.83 = 32.12 litres / hour

32.12 x 1.1 = £35.33 / hour in fuel alone

What is the price of a new 6155R?? £135k? used with approx 4000 hours £85k = £12.5 / hour depreciation (depreciation is not linear but its a good guide)

fuel + depreciation = £47.88

operator £15 / hour minimum

Fuel + depreciation + operator = £62.88 / hour

Still have insurance + servicing + repairs + tyres + inflation of the replacement tractor to account for.

I would say it needs to be near enough £100 / hour if you are solely contracting with the machine / want to be paid for your time / have money in the future to replace the tractor.
