I do but always find it hard to get genuine cost per hour/acre figures . So interested to hear actual figures
I calculate my costs every year after i know all the costs.
Last year my total cost for drilling with a 15 year old tractor and same age lemken zirkon/solitair 4m combi drill, was 46£/ha (app. 18£/acre). The only assumption made, is our own time spend on transport, washing, greasing, hooking up, changing parts and so on, which is set at 1/3 of the time spend on drilling.
This year it will be more. I drill some for a neighbour, and i charge 70£/ha (app 28£/acre). I want all my costs, a profit and any delayed drilling of my own covered. If not, i just do my own.
I'm not in the contract business, so i doesn't matter to me what anyone else charge.

I to cover the acres it would cover I would want £720 / hr to drill with a 12m avatar just to be running at NACC rates !

more usual to charge per acre but the above shows why downtime and logistics are so critical to get right

“ you already have the kit so it’s already paid for” is the crapiest of crap ways to run a busines, it’s doing someone a favour which is fine if you are a charitable sort but NEVER try justify that kind of logic as a business

local garage already have costs of their premis etc. covered …….. don’t see them offering to service my car for free though oddly
