Good job it didn't get sold

Ever been grateful to find something in the back of the barn that should really have been sold / scrapped / thrown out??

Last weekend we dragged out an old set of pig scales from the back of the barn which haven't been used for decades. Chucked on a 25 kg bag of feed to check they were still fairly accurate ( had to convert lbs to kgs with phone!) and ideal, we were able to weigh my childrens first ever fat lambs!

So what junk are you grateful for that never got sold?

90 lb is what we always aimed for (lamb) (y) ...... before metrification ...and even, actually.... for several years after :)

I had a pair of old Massey combine 28 inch wheel rims from a machine which was scrapped.

They hung around for years and should have gone in the scrap however I needed to erect two gate posts to be clad in stone for the house entrance.

The centres were perfect to weld the heavy angle iron to then drop them into the footing to set up for the gates, keeping the angles upright.

I then mixed some concrete in the electric mixer to set the centres in place solid then mass filled the holes and wall footings in one, leaving the angle irons in the right place for the gates.
