Good service

Just wanted to add we had fantastic service from Rea Valley tractors when our combi baler of another green make played up last summer.
After over 24 hours of trying to get some sort of response from dealer and manufacturer I rang our rvt rep out of desperation as we had a lot of grass down baking in near 30 degree heat.
He rang me back mid afternoon on a Sunday despite the fact he was in Ibiza on a stag do and said he would see what he could do.
8 o'clock Monday morning one of his colleagues was on the phone to inform me they had a demo combi in the yard at Shrewsbury, where did we want it bringing to?
The other green make didn't turn up until Tuesday lunchtime, 4 days after the initial phone call by which time everything had been baled up.
Needless to say we bought the demonstrator and have been very pleased with it thus far.

Had a bit of an incident before Christmas, which left me needing to replace my car. It can be difficult to pop out to a get things done during the day, with having a full time office job which is in a fairly rural location.
Went into Bristol Mercedes at 6pm one evening expecting to have a quick look at a car and pick up a brochure, knowing they would close at 6.30. I was very surprised to be offered 2 test drives that evening, and the sales team were very happy to stay late with me never feeling pressed to leave for them to lock up.
Did the deal that evening, and left at 9pm. Well done to Emma, top quality customer service.

Good write up about your situation in the farm machinery journal. Some of these dealers don't understand the bigger picture in that the sales man sells the first machine but the service sells the next.

Covers well and truly blown now then;).
Yes, to me backup is everything. Any machine of any colour will break at some point, it's how quick you get sorted that counts. Especially with the cost of equipment these days.

Led Lenser, the guys that make the head torches and flashlights.
Use their headlights, have a few now for lambing workshop use etc one stopped working a year ago and another recently. Packed them up and sent them off to led lenser expecting them to get back to me with some get out clause, nope. 7 days later DPD arrives with two complete brand new headlights worth £100 a piece FOC to replace faulty ones. Super.

SPALDINGS. Enquired at Spaldings stand at Lamma about a deal they had on an item last year to see if that deal would be coming on again, was told not in the foreseeable future but would stand on at deal price if I bought there and then which I did. I didn't have an account with Spaldings, have never bought anything of them in my life. They set me up an account said they would deliver the item and send me the bill I didn't need to pay it now just send a cheque when I get the invoice. Great to see a company that still is willing to trust genuine farmers and are willing to do business. Item arrived Friday.

Fantastic service again today, from The Starter Motor & Alternator Company
If it’s in stock, which it usually is, then it’s here next day. I know there’s nothing super special about that, we come to just expect this sort of thing. But to be quite honest, to receive a replacement part with 24hrs of order, deserves a bit of credit! Most main agents can’t do that!

Delivered to the door, on time and as promised, no fuss, good price, and invaluable knowledge and advice on the phone. Can’t beat em imo(y)

John Conaty of Meath, Ireland. Deserving of a mention. Digger exhaust ordered Thursday afternoon, from them (rep Ireland) delivered this morning for €15! All the more impressive as we are classed Highlands and islands, (even though we're neither).

If your needing digger or tractor parts, they're certainly worth a look.

Can’t rate these lads high enough. I noticed my turbo on a tractor was very wet. Diagnosed seals were going as bearings were on their way out. Russell’s and Platts Harris £1200 plus a turbo or £1000 plus for a re-coned one. Rang these up off a recommendation, £525 plus vat for a genuine Holset turbo, with studs, nuts, gaskets and instructions. 12 months warranty and delivered. I fitted it today which was a piece of cake and they were a pleasure to deal with. Don’t go to your dealers use these. I’ve recommended them to friends who have since ordered genuine Garret turbo’s at half the price quoted by dealers also.

Do you know if they can reman/repair VGT (variable geometry) units?

Had the same. Was given the option of send the unit to them, or they send out a replacement part in the post (was the switch cap), which arrived 3 days later as promised. Great service from their UK agents.(y)

Just make sure you’re getting a genuine one when buying. Lots of counterfeits about, with prices too good to be true. ;)

Precisely, half the price of our local agricultural emporium!

Iirc, I bought two genuine Stihl chains, for the 660, from L&S for less than the price of one Oregon chain from the local stealer!
Hehe. They are also my go to people for Stihl chains and parts.

I have three or four chains for each saw and pole saw on the shelf and just swap over as needed. Sharpen at leisure.

We tend to just go through one chain at a time, sharpen as necessary until it’s spent, each to their own though, I can understand why you’d do it that way(y)....always have plenty of chains in stock, and it’s much easier and cheaper to do so with L&S;)(y)

I’m guessing your local stealer is probably a branch of my local? Although our nearest is the HQ. They sure know how to charge!
