Good winter work jacket.

Ridgline Torrent. Excellent value and if you are going too be out in really wet weather for a long time treat with Diver Daves waterproofing (see eBay)
If it’s going to be really cold you might need waistcoat or decent jumper, but it’s a good medium weight coat.

Carrhart

Yes, you can get them here, I have one. Had it about four years and only just starting to show some wear around the cuffs.

Made of cotton duck fabric, so only really showerproof, but great in every other respect. I didn’t buy it from the daft new Carrhart fashion shops, got it online.

Well worth the money. Not sure if they now do waterproof gear.

I got a Ridgeline jacket after scouring the internet for the cheapest one. Put repel on it and it’s been excellent. Two sizes too big  But it means I can fit layers under if it is cold and I am on quad bike, not moving about much or up on the moor and it’s blowing a hoolie and lashing it down

Got a Swedteam Axton? jacket from Bushwear in the sale, with another 20% off on Black Friday, with 10% off for signing up to their mailing list
Does for best at the moment but will replace the Ridgeline when it goes fecked.

I’ve got an old one for the same purpose. It’s 11 years old now with the odd hole here and there, but I can’t seem to kill it!

When it gets proper filthy I put it in a big tub with water and traffic film remover and tread up and down on it for a couple of minutes. Rinse it out, hang it up and it’s good as new. Well. Nearly!

If that’s not good value then I don’t know what is.

Love my Carhartt but it’s not waterproof in any way shape or form. Not welderproof either.
It is warm and has pockets though.

For all the above (apart from welderproof) I buy second hand Laksen off eBay.

Depends what sort of work you do but I live in a swanndri mosgiel. Not cheap granted but I wouldn’t, or rather can’t, wear anything else now. Polo shirt, wind proof zip up and swanny on the top. Great hood (Head protection, laying under vehicles), good zip (can get to other pockets easy), protection from brambles (flip up hood, lean forwards and walk backward through a hedge no worries), spark and fire proof within reason.

not everyone’s cuppa but I haven’t found anything else.

£50 will get you a US army M65 style with a removable liner and proper metal fasteners and zip. Fine in warmer weather without the liner and showerproof if you treat it with scotchguard.
