Got these for sale but don't no what there worth

Got this sandstone gate post to sell its 6ft8 tall by 1ft4 wide but not sure what it's worth local auction got a sandstone and garden troughs section in there next implement sale in a couple of week so could take it there but not sure what reserve to put on it also got this old sandstone sharpener thing not sure what it's proper name is but might sell it as well is it worth much?

I bought 3 of those sandstone posts at a farm sale a few years back. I paid £15 for the lot.

That was at a sale where almost everyone was a farmer and probably didn't see the "ornamental" potential/value.

I have since made the 3 pieces into a fireplace that I like to think someone would pay thousands for.

So your value is between £5 and £1000 if my experience is anything to go by. Probably not much use for setting a reserve, sorry.

I had two grindstones like yours, without the handles. One I use as a staddle stone top, and in the centre of the other one, I concreted a piece of the suitably sized steel pipe. It is now a stand for the patio umbrella. It's so heavy that the umbrella will never blow over.[/QUOTE seen a few people use them in the garden if they have the handle missing what's at a wedding a few weeks back at a restaurant that used to be a old farm building and they had a old grindstone with the handle on as part of a wall and use the handle to hang a decoration off thought it was a good use of it.
