So many sectors of agriculture are really having it rough and there doesn't seem to be any light at the end of the tunnel. Luckily cereal growers have a decent price to cover the increases to a degree.
But many others are seeing fertiliser, fuel, cereals, machinery, electricity, labour, etc, etc rising to massive prices that are unprecedented. And then to top it off the subsidy is dropping like a stone!
Just how long do you keep banging your head against the wall hoping it will improve?
I know they always used to say you have to get through the bad times if you want to profit from the good times.
Can anyone see any glimmers of hope in the future?

Just deal with it all and be thankful you have your health and in a position that if the sh1t really hits the fan you can sell it all and probably be still reasonably comfortable compared to living in a council house claiming doel money

Oh and just to top it off a landlord served me notice of a rent review and said he would be wanting a substantial increase🙈
Landlords seem to only consider the price increase of the grain, lamb, beef etc, and overlook the input inflation.

Similar with N fert manufacturers. Not meaning this season, but previous grain price rises and they put up the N price, bit of course the grain price rise usually comes because of low yields.

With grain prices where they are, I was feeling a little silly having put 2/5ths of farm into stewardship. Maybe it wasn't all such a daft decision after all.

Yes, Nitram dropped over £200 today as CF had overcooked the price and couldn’t sell it.
Halve it again and I will consider maintaining output. A £200 a tonne drop is only throwing crumbs but I’m sure plenty will bite.

I’m thinking the future of farming both as a protector of the environment and producing both food and energy is pretty fcked.
