Gout Fly

We have cut our area of spring wheat by 50% this year due to the gout fly problems we had in 2015.
However I have been out today and I think it is fair to say there is a gout fly egg on every plant so we will be going in tomorrow with 50mls of Hallmark.. And probably again later in the week... If you are growing spring wheat go and look at it ASAP as Gout damage will knock yields by 50-75%..!!!!!!!

2016 is defiantly looking like the year of the insect! Especially the aphid, but flea beetle, pea and bean weevil being more of a worry than normal as well.

We have not seen too much pea and bean weevil damage but we have had to treat for slugs on some of our spring linseed and spring wheat. Where we missed the spray for flea beetle on our linseed there is just no crop...and been out this evening and all of our spring wheat has Gout Fly eggs on its lower leaves...Yes this is the year of the insect ... Best spray the entire farm with Hallmark and again in seven days....

Whats the best time of day to check or doesnt it matter looked at mine this morning after reading your post, didnt see anything, where are the eggs normally laid ?
