GPS tracker for chainsaws, power tools ??

Question/idea for you techy guys,regards security of chainsaws,power tools quad bike etc.If one took the piston out of a broken chainsaw,motor out of a broken power tool , is there a small tracking device that one could insert into the chainsaw/power tool. The idea being that the chainsaw/power tool with the tracker fitted is kept amongst the usable tools at night, so that if thieves clear out the workshop, they also quite unwittingly take the chainsaw etc with the tracker fitted,meaning that the tools can be tracked to perhaps the thieves home /store.
I have no idea if the above would work, but just putting it forward as an idea which may be of some use to some of you IF it would work.
