@AHDB Cereals and Oilseeds why was the question about equivalent to imports removed from the screen while no others were removed?

The answer given in response to the question indicates to me that the AHDB are misinterpreting what farmers are asking for and that you are putting a lot of effort in the wrong direction.
It also demonstrates that either people simply do not know what checks are required for imported grain to enter the UK food chain, or that they are deliberately hiding the import requirements, which then begs the question why?

I would like an explanation from @AHDB Cereals and Oilseeds on why they deemed it necessary to remove the most important and topical question from the screen during the conference?
I imagine they @ahdb will say it is a very complex subject and will take some time before we get a wholly unbelievable answer...very sad times when the levy, our money is being used to the detriment of our market.

@AHDB Cereals and Oilseeds please engage with your levy payers.

Good morning

We aim to remove any question once answered from the screen to allow for more questions to be populated, some questions remained on screen as they were still receiving “thumbs up” on the PollEV software and so were pushed to the top.

In June 2021 AHDB paused our annual funding arrangements of Red Tractor, which have been in place since its inception, and has moved to considering proposals based on a 5-year plan from Red Tractor. We will consider proposals where providing funding to Red Tractor would deliver on the objectives of AHDB’s levy payers.

AHDB is moving into a new era of engagement with its levy payers, and it is intended that our Sector Councils will use this to be more aware of how farmers and growers wish their levy to be spent. All decisions regarding funding of work in any quality assurance scheme will need to meet the approval of the relevant AHDB Sector Councils.

Kind regards
James

Except that the 2 SFI questions remained on screen until the end of the presentation, they received no more thumbs up after being answered. Those questions were also answered before the Equivalence to Imports question.
Compare that to the Equivalence to Imports question which was instantly removed. On the face of it @AHDB Cereals and Oilseeds your response would appear to not fit the video evidence.

I urge the AHDB to up its game. It is important that AHDB treat this issue robustly, it is also important that the AHDB are seen to be treating this issue properly by levy payers, we are watching and we are not stupid.

Please properly explain why the Equivalence to Imports question which was removed from the screen, while this SFI questions remained.

@AHDB Cereals and Oilseeds we would urge you to stop funding and supporting red tractor, or you will find yourselves on the receiving end of a similar vote that Potatoes and Horticulture did. And that would be the end of fancy lunches and presentations.

Fix the RL.
Dump red tractor.
Get some relevant research done and published that brings us profit.

Or your levy paying farmers will vote you out of existence.

Thankyou James for trying to explain why the 'sensitive' question was removed from the screen. I am afraid your explanation is not adequate, the question was removed within three minutes, and not even given a chance to be voted on. Yet a question on the brightness of the lights remained. This type of cover up does the @AHDB Cereals and Oilseeds no favours to gain our confidence, and make you appear complicit with RT.
Lets also get the facts right, the AHDB paused the funding because of the response from levy payers to your unknown massive contribution to RT.
If @ahdb really want to know how we wish our levy money is spent, then you will have to rapidly make amends, not talk about how complicated these issues are. Use your power to get us a simple farmer signed equivalence to imports.

When the AHDB said they'd suspended the money to RT I felt pleased that an organisation was actually listening to farmers-its levy payers. Since reading this thread the AHDB has lost all credibility with me and I will now be voting NO as soon as I have a chance.

It's a real shame because amongst the rubbish, eg the RL which has become pointless. They do actually do a lot of really good work but the way they're behaving with this RT debacle is terrible.

I hope @AHDB Cereals and Oilseeds have all updated there CVs.

Even when I left Red Tractor because I've had enough of the nonsense, some of my levy money still went to the parasites. Utter disgrace to the industry. Sooner a vote, the better, get rid. I have read some of your email replies to other members and wishy washy, fluff round the edges nonsense doesnt wash with me.
No different to RT or the idiots NFU but then you're all in shafting the UK farmer for your own gains.

@AHDB Cereals and Oilseeds

In the video Tim Rycroft said AHDB support assurance schemes like RT.

I understand AHDB are one of six company guarantors to RT and have numerous members of staff on the RT boards. So quite involved with RT.

Think about this scenario for grain...

Non-assured levy payer pays levy to AHDB. AHDB have been giving some of that levy as funding to RT (I believe for marketing purposes). RT have promoted the RT brand, and promoted RT to AIC who now only allow UK grain into UFAS feed mills if it is RT assured. So that levy payer cannot sell simple feed grains to a feed mill in the UK. He has had his levy used by AHDB and RT to cut off his own markets.

The farmer either has no market available, or he has the added cost of complying with the RT scheme.

I wonder if AHDB might have a plan as to how they can help open those feed mill markets back up for non-assured levy payers? Maybe you might be able to help explain?

Maybe you could also explain if you understand the problem, and see how bad it looks to us farmers.

When FA first started, most other grain producing countries did not have FA schemes (probably none). When AHDB first decided to back RT, but imports didn't have any similar FA, it must have been obvious that we were going to add an extra layer of cost for levy payers to get market access vs our imports competitors. I wonder if I might ask... why did AHDB think that was a good idea? and do AHDB still think it's a good idea? or should the policy change, and if so, what is that policy going to be.

Thank you.

Let's discuss it on here. It's a really good, transparent platform to have the discussion about AHDB, RT and grain markets. Maybe David, yourself and others at AHDB who have knowledge about the subject can all register and join in, then we'll know your views.

Levy payers can then read AHDB's policies, thoughts and future direction on this subject. Best way to be transparent.

Should be a good discussion, and hopefully help find some good solutions.

I would like to hear it.

Only yesterday I was praising and thanking @Woldmarsh Producers for their engagement with forum members. It means an incredible amount when organisations are willing to engage on TFF directly with farmers.

I think it’s what the boffins refer to as Knowledge Exchange or KE for short. I picked up that phrase at an AHDB Cereals meeting a few years back.

The last thing I remember the adhb doing, apart from taking my money, was the ukS and ukP wheat export brands. I wonder how many cargos of either have been shipped these last three years?

Ill reiterate:

You take my levy and provide me with zero benefits.

There don't appear to be any Cereals and Oilseed board minutes online since January 2020.

Who are the farmers on the board, and which of them are on here with a ballbag big enough to engage? f**k the processors - this is the farmer levy payers wanting to rip these fancy dining clubs down as they will never reform.
