Grain/Muck Pads

Looking at putting pads in for short term grain and muck. This will be going on contract farms and rented land. Obviously concrete is not really an option due to cost. What about chalk pads, or inter connecting concrete slabs which could be moved if needed to? Any ideas very welcome! tia

not really much point in having a pad then :scratchhead:
It's mainly for short term storage of grain on contract farms awaiting to be taken to central storage. So about 24 hours at most, people want to do different things with their old grain sheds these days which are no longer fit for purpose so trying to find a reasonable solution. I could just tip on the field but I would rather have something I can also use to safely tip bulkers of muck over winter

Tip the grain in the field. Local merchant does it a lot and a little bit of admix in the last few loads never seems to matter. If you put any hard standing in just to be able to tip a lorry then the better solution is bog matts or temporary trackway as @Bobthebuilder suggests. We use timb2er Bog mats but are about to buy a load of plastic ones. The timber are ok but if the ground is uneven they can break. The big benefit is that you can tip your Muck in any field at any time. We just put a track in and back the trailers or lorries in and tip off the end. Then a 360 swings it up out the way.

Has anyone tried laying 6" panels flat on a bed of softish hardcore, then driving full trailer on? Would they crack?

Ordinary panels will crack. What you need is the prestressed concrete panel but with the extra square mesh reinforce as well. We have 4 mtr by 1 mtr interlocking concrete bog mats but there not cheap but they do work
