Grain Store concrete floor

180 mm thick RC 40 ,8mm mesh ( correctly placed on high chair spacers)RC 40 min 380 kg straight opc cement 100 slump with 0.55 cement water ratio and no WRA is mix we use and happy with

Polythene in below? What's it like to finish in a hot spell? Only asking simply because of the MCC.

Does the lack of WRA leave it any more workable in heat?

Yes Dpm if it’s inside , if you have the water reducer in and have specified a cement water ratio it allows them to reduce cement content as there will not be as much water to meet your slump requirements , just phoning and asking for a price on rc 45 concrete is not enough as they can meet this spec in various ways do it won’t be like for like

What spec of concrete are people putting in grain shed floors and views on mesh yes or no?

Last one we did had a base 0.5 metres thick so we could hit subsoil and then 350mm of RC40 with fibres because we put underfloor tunnels in so had to concrete to their level. Completely over the top but due to the shed sighting and then the available laterals it was still far far cheaper than putting in a wooden drive over floor and 150mm of concrete.

If you are thinking of an air tunnel, needs to be 250mm thick under it and for about a meter each side. Sounds a lot but easier to do it now than afterwards!!

We did a 600 m drive for a plant dealers who sell 500/600 machines a year almost 20 years ago it’s 8-9 “ thick with 8 mm mesh and joints every 11 m , it’s well worn but not a crack anywhere we used pav2 air entrained 1 layer of mesh and poly fibres as it was done in summer to avoid plastic shrinkage cracks

Would you recommend no wra in the mix? And what would be the best cement to water ratio? Sorry for the questions but trying to learn why we have had variations in concrete delivered from same company, just wondering if they have unknowingly to myself cheapened it in some way.

Sounds like a good job tbh, HGV spec to me is 225mm, 2 layers A393 or A252 and PAV2 or c28/35 cem1, wra, ae, s3

Generally only specify dc2 for foundations on c32/40

Is there a colour difference?
Were 2 plants supplying the job?
Was it a pump mix? And they changed away from oversanded to make it cheaper?

Colour has dried different, batches were supposed to be same mix couple of months apart, same mix ex but second batch didn't go off or finish as well, even though weather was actually better for it!
