Grain yields 2022

combine yield figure is only as good as the calibration of the weigh sensor and the accuracy of the gps signal for width of cut combined with the delay inthe system

my fields are all smaller according to the combine using Rtk this inflates the yield per ha
Wheat
so far this year the spot readings are 6 to 16 tonnes per ha excluding the obvious pull back on the leaver or the small width than cutting
avereage will be around 8 to 9 tonnes per ha on Rpa acreage

heavy bussel weights are a bonus

I

I love just been looking at the moistures chalked up on the walls as we've been tipping grain this harvest and one load of winter barley was 13.2% and a load of wheat went in last Monday afternoon at 13.8% after Sundays 3mm of rain. The rest have all been 11-12% with a few 10's.
I'm going to hope it's raining when I load out next spring!!!!

What is the yield loss per acre between 11% and 15%??????

40kg ton

we all farm different land in different areas, we are not all blessed with “good crop” land or the same rainfalls or sunlight hours weather

there is no more skill in growing a 13t/ha crop on good land than there is a 7t crop on poor land …… the skill is doing so either …. PROFITABILITY
with the tweak of return on your own capital employed

Anyone else cut Astronomer yet?
Ours looked 6t/ac on the header, sadly the tank tells a less optimistic story. But it's still okay, alongside Elicit; although a less bold sample.

Started spring barley today earliest I can remember. Struggling to hit 2t/acre drought just finished it off.

Driest ever cut barley. Coming off combine at 13.3%! Unheard of here!

Finished this afternoon. We finished a day earlier in 2017, but we weren’t cutting as many acres.

Will update with yields when I’ve worked them out.View attachment 1054442View attachment 1054443View attachment 1054444

Ok so:

2nd wheat - 6.3 to 8.3t/ha - average 7.7t/ha

1st wheat - 8.6 to 13.5 t/ha - average 10.9t/ha

Hybrid Rye 8.7 - 10.5 t/ha - average 10 t/ha

Taken from a yield monitor which was occasionally calibrated against a weighing hopper, so better than counting trailers but not as good as a weighbridge!

My 13.5 t/ha was only on the best bits in hollows. Plenty on the sandy banks and gravel field doing a lot less .
very pleasing all the same, with 2nd wheats running at 9t this evening .
The very best first wheat was good old Costello after maize, which looked so well that it only had 100 units N .
residual pig muck after last years maize . I’d advise anyone serious about improving their farm to get some livestock or muck from somewhere .

I love the theory of direct drilling it makes perfect sense. I listened to Clive give a talk a few years ago and in theory it's brilliant! I just don't think it's the answer as everybody's cropping and soil is different.
You have to remain flexible and some farms just aren’t ready for it. Spring barley is also a crop we are going to go back shallow cultivating for because after a couple of years of hit and miss results we need more consistency.

A nice retirement bonus
Your last harvest good or bad is a matter of luck, and you have hit the jackpot!!!
