My mum and dad are really missing seeing them is there any idea when government will encourage contact again in the near future?

What has it to do with government. Family decision. Risks of virus are pretty well known now. Seems we can all do a risk assessment. Only difficulty so far I can see is asymtomatic carriers, and beng infectious for a couple of days before symptoms expressed. Testing kits can be purchased - but possibly unreliable.

Looks like obese folk, older males and a few other disease make survival less likely or a more damaging attack if contract the virus.

If you kiss and cuddle the grandkids rather than meet in the garden and keep a metre or two away then you raise the risk.

So there you are. I reckon most folks should be able to work it out. Brutal reality is that is life. But no we are waiting for government to tell us when it is safe. So we can blame government when it goes wrong.

So, my question to you. When do you think they should see their grandparents and how would you manage the actual encounter.

What age are they, do they have health issues that raise their risk ? We have seen one of ours often as mrs looks after him a couple of mornings a week. Adults need to think about what they want and any risk and make a decision for themselves.

One is 7 and the other is 4. No health issues and both parents are looking after them, I hope come the autumn my parents can go and see them possibly.

I think if you can have a cleaner in your home, I can not see why a socially distanced meeting outdoors is not a managable risk.
I met a friend in a supermaket car park, parked the cars up and had a chat and lunch together talking through the open windows. More than 2m but doable, and more comfy than sitting on a park bench.

common sense is what everyone needs to start using

our kids have been isolated fur o et 8 weeks now and do have my parents

there’re the risk in them seeing each other is absolute zero ! - it is impossible that either the kids or my parents could currently have c19

when they start back at school again that goal post will move but right now there is no problem them seeing and hugging grandparents

Its a difficult one because nobody wants the blame of killing nanny and grandad and 99.9% of families i know have kept away from each other, but are now desperate to meet and hug family. Those of us who have respected rules might not get to reunite the family if it spikes again because other families have not respected the rules. As a family we are waiting a few more weeks for further guidance.

My wife would like to see our grandson, but my biggest argument, is that if one of us died after catching it from him, it would be very diffcult for him to live with.
thankfully daughter and SIL are not keen on contact

More like they are enjoying not working. So the unions dont like experts now, funny how experts are only supported when they agree with ones opinion

If you're kids go to a school where teachers are not working hard enough for your child then you need to contact the head teacher as that is the only way they can find out at the moment.

A lot of primary teachers working bloody hard with a huge push to get the kids somewhere near where they should have been amongst a raft of teacher training that has started for some and about to hit for others.

My experience is of primary school only, not sure how secondary is going.

Of course there are many brilliant teachers that can and do inspire kids, but plenty of poor ones, and it's the unions that are shouting atm. Heard a head teacher moaning earlier, she just sounded like a typical jobs worth, lots of what problems were instead of finding solutions. Didnt mean to tar them all with the same brush

That won’t be true Clive - I bet you’ve had contact with others and then your kids after. Or picked up and opened your mail without 72hrs quarantine, etc. How about touching the same gate post as one of your staff?

Yes, the risks will be small, but they’re not zero.
