Has anyone had experience with establishing wheat direct onto stubbles with a Low disturbance subsoiler toolbar linked to a trailed disc drill

Yes, we’ve a rapid lift on a 3m vaderstad box drill.
1) HP is a consideration especially on heavy soils.
2) The rapid lift has 6 legs which can create lots of disturbance, on light soils soil flow can be a problem.
Takes time to perfect it’s operation but it’s an excellent drill and those compacted headlands from the vaderstad aren’t a problem now.

What horse power are you running on a 3 metre and do you find you use the system disc more to create a tilth

We’ve a T7.245 it’s 200hp which is about right especially on the heavier clay. It’s a really fine balance between getting tilth and blocking the drill with soil. Especially when it’s moist. Maybe the grange with front discs would reduce the amount of disturbance before the legs pass through the soil.
