we are looking at a piece of equipment and have been discussing price/ specs with manufactures rep...said we were interested but would hold off ordering until the grants had been released....contacted them again last week and said we were applying for grant but would be going ahead whether we got the grant or not, but was told the price had gone up 3k.... the grant we are applying for is considerably more for this item than it has been before, anyone else had this?

We bought a machine on the Welsh grant scheme a couple of years ago. I got a written quote from a dealer who hadn't heard about the grant scheme. Got the go ahead and bought it before telling him it was grant aided. Two of my neighbours liked the machine and decided to get one and his price had gone up £3000. Same machines,in stock in the yard with ours.

as disgusting as that is, surely it could be solved (at least partially) by strong negotiations with a few different dealers and/or different manufacturers? bit of competition basically. if they knock off 2 grand they are still killing it so dealers should be falling over themselves for a deal

Neither neighbour asked me how much it cost and didn't tell me they were getting one so only found out the price difference later

fully appreciate things are going up, but 3 grand on a 16 grand machine in just over a month takes some believing that its all down to "things going up"

The dealers may not being as clandestine as you think, pricing to the dealer from the manufacturers continues to rise.
Prices can rise to the dealer with little notice, and quotes are only valid for a short period because of this volatility
