Grass after spuds?...

Is this a major no-no?, planted 2 acres of spuds last year and was planning to go for crop silage cut of oats and peas this year then reseed into grass. However only hav the option of bales so always been a bit worried about vermin when stored (altho have done it successfully before) and cannot realistically get a combine near the field (10ft gates etc etc!)
Ended up nw that couldn't source the pea mix from local suppliers tho, so not that pushed on just oats or barley arable crop.
I am considering if I could put in a crop of say Italian rye grass and get 2/3 cuts of silage from it this year and maybe next year then reseed to a more traditional grazing mix after that?
Will probably hav to spray for volunteer spuds at some point (can this be done on grass?) Field is currently ploughed and in good nick (was all small harvesting equity etc) so no issue wit ruts.
The grass would be alot less hassle overall but it always seems the norm to put a crop in after spuds, am I missing something??
