Its early for us here. Grass never really gets going till early may. My reseed dont look happy mind , if we do get rain its warmed up a lot and grass will jump. But we live on iffs im afraid
Funny i was taking to a mate yesterday , things arnt the same anymore, when we had that 76 drought . The worst i can remember , 100 cows was a big herd so we even though we had to buy in it was not a lot and farms always seemed to have a carry over, now farms are stocked to the limit, most anyhow, and a 1000 cow herd and more is common place .
Hope you get rain soon

Our fert spinner hasn’t moved yet gonna need a week of rain before I can start or it’ll just wash off the hard ground

I’ve put a few tonnes of fert on a fortnight ago and gave up. Only did 80 acre. It’s still lying about most of it. Not rained since not surprising though if you go by the law of averages. I’ve been told you loose some of the nitrogen when this happens

Spring crops would make use of rain as there hasn't been any in over a month, but I'm guessing they'll be ok.
Winter crops are looking great.

Grass is slow but it's keeping up, swards on shallow soil is starting to change colour a bit, but hey ho.
We have plenty of silage left, so not really a worry.

We just have to farm around the conditions.
I'm not prone to getting to bothered about things I can do nothing about.

Ps. It's supposed to rain next week, cue the when is it ever going to stop raining threads

The grass has rocketed here since the Easterly winds fecked off on Wednesday... 3 weeks of ice blast stalled everything quite badly and the hardest knowes are burning off.

A wee bit of drizzle would do wonders but it was just heat that was needed.

Apart from the silage fields or fields not grazed by stock I’ve never known grass growth as slow as

We put in 105 acres in last autumn and it was underwater all winter and within 3 weeks the grounds full of cracks. Hopefully we should be due for some proper growing weather

Cows are pretty much all out here, still feeding silage but there's no way I'd keep them in when the ground is dry, grass or not!!
I’ve turned my store cattle out but I’ve had sheep on the cow fields...it’s like bell metal but I wouldn’t turn the cows out otherwise it’ll never grow...if it got a drink it would rocket
