Grass growth

Am I the only one struggling for grass at the moment? Even reseeded ground from last year doesn't seem to be growing like it should. Ph is 6 to 6.5 ,index of P And K is 2. Put fertiliser out and just seems very slow.

Exactly the same here. Strategy was to throw N at it, but seem to have given up on that one.

Warm days and frosty nights are doing us no favours here along with minimal rain. I'd sacrifice a few degrees of day time temperature to have milder nights with a bit of cloud cover. Having said that we now have a few days where snow might be on the cards so I may begin to miss those tee-shirt days quite soon.

Don’t be starting threads like this off or @M-J-G will be getting upset
I have no issue with people that have a genuine issue and/or ask advise.

It's those threads that are stated to lament about things like weather, dry conditions, wet conditiond, seasons and daylight hours that I don't really see the point in.

To say I get upset would be inaccurate.

This thread is similar to mine...i was merely asking what grass growth was like as ours wasn’t good

There is a serious lack of rain now which is going to have an impact on early silage. Ee have had 15mm in 6 weeks as opposed to the normal 150mm. Sucklers are starting to get some hay again.

And when I took intetest in your situation by asking questions you were a smart arse, and later told me you had grass almost ready for silage and your were better off for grass than I was.

PM me or resurrect your own thread if you wish to discuss this, it's slightly bad manners discussing this on someone else's thread.

Same all over. 12mm of rain here in 7 weeks, wind out the east and white frost 10 nights out of the last 14. Grass completely scorched. Lot of ring feeders gone back out to cattle round here.... still, hasn’t snowed yet.....:rolleyes::rolleyes:

We had 2 brief but crazy storms yesterday, thunderstorms without the thunder. 4 miles away they had nothing. All our fields were steaming last night and you could almost hear stuff growing.
Beet drilling was a bit sticky still this morning, Spring Barley seedlings have doubled in size overnight and had near perfect conditions for DD’ing Redstart into sprayed off grass this afternoon.?

Now if we could just arrange the same for next week....

If you could arrange some for me it would be even better!

I've keeping gimmers inside cleaning up the last of the haylage, trying to save grass for ewes and lambs.
Got cracks in the fields you can fit your whole hand into.
After such a wet winter, this is a bit extreme!

won't make a lot of difference if it doesn't get washed in, driest april on record here in north nothumberland
Do you record rainfall?
I was just wondering how wet you had it in Jan and Feb. I guess I’m not a great distance north of you ( Lauderdale).
I’m glad I’m not alone in the chuff all grass front, but it’s the drying out water supplies that are hacking me off. I’m hauling water up to the hilltop field here as the spring has dried up . Only 38 ewes n pairs in it but they can shift an Ibc full in 2 days !:cautious:
