I've got a 2 year grass to drill into wheat with weaving gd again this year. We cut 3rd cut a week ago and it is green again now so could be sprayed but would it be better to drill now I've got this late and glyphosate afterwards now from a frit fly point of view or not I ideally want it drilled this month ideally fairly soon any ideas welcome

Nobody knows. I think spray it off before you drill it, couple of days at least. The spray will work better, before the grass is brussed from drilling. Got a field to do as well but it's been grass 4 years.

Frit fly could be a problem. Can you dress the seed with Austral? Deter does a bit but not under severe pressure. No post em options any more since Dursban went.

I aim to spray off at least a month before drilling after grass for this reason.

Seed is deter dressed in shed but is a seed contract so can't swap it for austral. I've sprayed it 9 days ago and it's looking quite brown now just wondered how long to leave it as I'm fairly keen to get it in and away before winter

I'd swap the seed to another field that's not been grass in that case , next spring when the wheat dies away in front of your eyes you'll wish it had been treated with austral plus, but good luck anyway

Wish you told me that before I drilled it. Went in a treat but now I'm worried :scratchhead:

Don't worry, 2 year let so at least it's probably only frit to think about. Frit will more than likely only affect patches at worst. No point worrying about something that is now beyond your control.
