Grass seedbed

Neighbour is coming to sow grass with an Opico harrow tomorrow onto ploughing. Its was levelled with paddle rollers. Its reasonably firm but I am going to heavy flat roll it after. I am just wondering would I be safer to heavy roll before hand? Will sowing onto cambridge rolling and then flat rolling put some seed too deep??

TIA

I wouldn't bother heavy rolling before hand as the opico tines will dig into the soil a fair bit either way. I never harrow grass seed in as I think that is to aggressive I just blow it on the top of power harrowing and roll with a cambridge roll.

Do a bit of each and show us the difference in establishment?

I wouldn't be sowing grass this late. Be interested to see how it does.

Don’t worry chae, we’re in the costa del Ross ☀️ here. Think latest grass the farm I’m on, sown has been 1st Oct. Another neighbour between the 2 of us would be similar

Hell of a lot of grass seed gone out the last week and I'm sowing another 55 next week - got some Westerwolds to go in mid October- it may freeze to death but at least it won't be short of a drink[emoji2]
