I know not farming, but I used to look after building apprentices as a training officer. Two apprentices (and one ex apprentice) were asked to "kick in or knock down" from above a lathe and plaster ceiling in a terraced house in Llanelli. The loft space for the terrace was one long open run. They went up there and kicked down the ceiling for the neighbour. Neighbour's daughter was going to get married and the mothers wedding outfit was laid out on the bed!

Few years ago driving through a farm steading to bale gorgeous barley straw that had been bought in the swath, I stopped to blether

I'd seen the first field coming in and commented on straw quality and the good big size of swath. Eventually we stopped the chat, and I went out to field to make a start.....

A huge fendt and Heston baler had arrived in the interim, and was romping up the rows

""Stop stop, that my straw"....

"Here's the phone, speak to my boss, I'm just doing what I'm told".... (The boss was this fellas brother)

"I'll sell you the straw by the tonne" says the contractor....

"I'll pay you for the baling so far" says I....

Cheeky shyte hung up on me, and there were trailers there lifting bales that afternoon before I'd a chance to gather what was was mine

The contractor had bought the straw from another farm owned by the same man, and had decided just to bale my stuff as well. Unlike the other farm, "my" straw wasn't about to be set alight by the restless urban "natives" (!)

Embarrassed farm owner switched off the combine chopper knives for the next few days, and I ended up with a far greater area than I'd originally been after

I've yet to speak again to the contractor. Therefore I haven't yet thanked him for his rudeness and dishonesty, without which I wouldn't have since been given the baling of so much of that owners harvest over the years 😉😂
