grease guns for a dairy farmer

About time manufacturers realised that livestock farmers are not familiar with grease as a concept so should design greaseless bearings, pivot points and especially PTO UV joints
I would even pay a small premium for such a machine. After all, if my nipples don’t need grease, neither should theirs

If you are a dairy farmer you have surely realised by now that cow muck is the best possible lubricant anyway and so renders grease, grease guns and even barrels of oil redundant?

I just seem to get air. I’ve two both do the same.
Do you use the speedy grease cartridges? I got some with my speedy grease gun and have never had a single issue, however stick a Claas grease cartridge in and it only gets about half the grease out then airlocks, i think its to do with the design of the cartridge as the two are ever so slightly different where the gun pulls it tight round the lip, the Claas ones don't seal so well. Haven't got many Claas cartridges left but I either transfer the grease from a Claas cartridge to an empty speedy grease one using the plungers speedy grease provide and push the grease from one to the other with a bit of pole or just use the Claas ones in the traditional grease gun that I still have as a spare. Find the speedy grease with its magnet brilliant though you do have to watch the paintwork where you stick it on!

I have never paid more than twenty quid for a grease gun (bar a bucket greaser years ago) dont have any of the above problems.
Bought this a year ago when i decided to go with pin and bush grease for the boom on the loadall

gun is hung up in the workshop and the boom is greased every 40-50hrs when i fill up with diesel, not had a single problem in all that time.

Quite happy to believe that it’s poor operator

I had bother with my 1st batch of cartridges stored them upright since and been fine, also moved onto speedy grease.

I like the magnets on them not only for use but storage, they are more likely to be used if there seen.

I've something similar, cost I think £12 or £15 at least 15 years ago, I see no reason it won't last me, did get a bit carried away and bought one of them coupler things, a couple of years ago

I see a few respondents use a G coupler. I had a few and all leaked after a very short while, the jaws must be very soft. Anybody tried an alternative make quick coupler?

His must be ticking over a fair bit to use that little diesel

I carted round bales from my furthest field in 2018 with the loadall and trailer.
1 mile up hill from the field to home, 3 bales on the trailer, and one on the front of the loadall, throttle to the floor all the way home, if i remember right it was 4.5 litres an hour, its bloody great on fuel.
