Grease What Type Do You Use?

Our neighbour likes grease despite being a livestock farmer at heart. He can't understand why the bearings on his discs fail so quickly, "I use a full cartridge every day and they still fail"...

He nearly fell over when I told him ours only get 2 pumps at the start of the season, as per the suppliers recommendation.
No wonder he had fails. Grease expands under heat and pressure to release its additives, and do the job required. Too much, and it'll just sit there.

I suspect the seals were blown out on day one, an hour into work and 90% of the grease will have been pumped out of the bearings and soil started to ingress. This is the guy who will alter the top link while his haybob is running. You can't teach stoopid.

More importantly, the excess grease blobs all over something that throws dusty soil around just builds up with dust and soil and you really don't want that stuff stuck to your bearings.

I get those but the cartridges do not have the lip on them as in the picture, pain in the a*se to get out of the grease gun, think I paid £58+VAT for 36 carts last time I got some.

That's interesting cause I just today bought there last 138 tubes of the fuches branded tubes same as I bought last time off them. There sending me 1 of there own brand carts FOC and claim theres have the full rim at top the same so will find put in a couple days.

The fuches tubes i bought are old stock of theres so had it at same price as there own brand but next time i will have to pay alot more or find some other carts with full solid rims. Hense the free sample.

Fuchs Blue. I recently put one of the G Couplers on the Fuchs gun. After all these years dicking about with traditional grease guns the Fuchs with coupler makes greasing hassle free.

Been using a Fuchs gun and blue grease for 15 yrs now and fitted a G coupler three yrs ago. Nothing comes close to being better for greasing anything.[emoji16].

Have you got your S&A cart yet?

Forgot about this till the other recent grease thread came up.

There was a slight hick up cause the courier dropped one box and damaged about 14 cartridges:facepalm:
TBF Smith and Allan sorted it no problem, sent me 14 replacement cartridges and a £10 credit for my trouble(y)

in answer to your question yes there own branded cartridge they sent me was identical to the fuches with the solid rim at the top.
:)

I’m not a fan of the Fuchs type grease gun, pistol grip grease gun everyday with a normal end on it. Got another PG gun with the G coupler on it but it’s too slow to change between nipples. With the normal connector and the pistol grip, I’m 6 pumps and off to the next nipple in a flash [emoji50][emoji1]

These are the cartridges I got the last time, they are terrible and awful getting back out of the Milwaukee Grease gun. I have contacted S&A as I need some more, they have changed suppliers of the empty cartridges "with great feedback".
