Grease What Type Do You Use?

We use Polyurea grease in almost everything as we’ve only got a few things that need either Lithium or Moly specifically. Personally I think the polyurea is far superior but it’s not cheap and you can’t mix it with lithium grease or it can go hard. It does mean that we have to have two grease guns dedicated lithium and moly but all the others the tractors and combine have the polyurea in them.

Don’t use black molly on everything. Used it on a spearhead trimmer with nylon bushes & it ate them. I do however use it on my postdriver as it suits that application. It’s become known as the devil’s sh*t here as anyone who has used black molly will know how bad it sticks to everything :LOL:

Fuchs LX EP2 as it's a slightly higher temperature grease than others and holds in bearings better. We also use a really thick grey graphite grease for the loaders and pivot pins on any machines as this is the only grease we found to work and stay in the joints for longer. The 360 will last 2 week without grease where as it only last about 5 days work on normal ep2.

been using Lithium moly in everything for a while now no issues seems much better than ep2.

Gone over to Fuches grease carts cause they have a full rim at the top to stop them getting stuck in the grease gun barrel. Not sure all fuches cartridges have the full rim? mine came from Smith and Alan if I remember right? but have made in Poland on the carts were as other fuches branded cart I have seen are made in UK by ironside and don't have the full rim.

I will never buy carts with out a full rim again, so much easier to change them.

We've been using lithium molly for 5/6years after complaining about poor uj s that weren't lasting on the power harrows.the local nh dealer we use for spares said try some and I can't remember when I last changed a uj. The only problem is they always sell out of it first so I tend to pick up a few whenever I'm in.

JCB blue stuff here.

While it's stickier and better in wet conditions then ep2, it does form a skin and go hard. Maybe that takes longer to happen than with "ordinary" stuff?

Mines green I can tell you that, but how much grease do you pump into something? I did the loader tractor the other day and gave everything 3/4 shots of grease. It was just enough to see the grease moving out of the bushes etc..

I was tought to grease until you see the new stuff come out after the old.

Might be overkill (?), but grease is cheaper than worn bushes.

Slightly annoying doing that on a loader tractor because you go down the road flat out afterwards and get bits of grease on the windscreen

If you do your pins and bushes regularly, then 2-3 shots from a standard grease gun will be just fine.
With bearings on a shaft, the rule of thumb is 1 pump per day for a 1 inch shaft. 2 pumps per day for a 2 inch shaft, and so on.
Gets my goat when people moan about the price of grease, then you approach the worshop door, and it's all over the floor like dog sh1t. Just because they have been going at it, and over doing it.

We use Speedygrease or Morris EP2 in everything here, apart from Fastrac props that get JCB blue grease and JD front axles that get JD green grease.

Used to use normal for everything but got told the blue grease will stay in the props longer.

Went through a stage of rebushing JD axles, but since we started using the green stuff haven’t had to touch them.

Our neighbour likes grease despite being a livestock farmer at heart. He can't understand why the bearings on his discs fail so quickly, "I use a full cartridge every day and they still fail"...

He nearly fell over when I told him ours only get 2 pumps at the start of the season, as per the suppliers recommendation.
