Grease!!

Hi,

Currently looking to top up my grease supplies as I have run out, whereby I am looking at all the various brands and thinking to myself, are they all similar - or do we really need to go to a certain brand to be safe.

I generally use an EP2 and had no issues with my older kit, but thinking if I am missing something here - thoughts?

Depends what you want to use it for.

EP2 is ok for most things.

Personally I use lithium moly grease most of the time, good on ujs, and good on pins and bushes. Not the best for pins but good.

There is a better grease for Loader pins but its calcium based so should not be mixed with normal grease, so I dont use that as would get complicated with 2 guns and different customers etc.

Me and son-in-law have different opinions on grease he uses Exol complex HV2 LS blue grease. I use Total multi complex EP2 red . Read the spec it’s both the same stuff I reckon

Sadly it seems to atract the 'Karen's' on the forum that have nothing to contribute as well..

Whatever the dealer has in stock goes in the grease guns, although I have wondered about getting the blue JCB stuff from time to time as it is more waterproof so would work better in the digger I believe?

I thought the red stuff was more intended for high speed bearings than anything else? As said having to use different grease guns for different things would add complication, so standard EP lithium grease is what everything gets.

I do keep a pot of Moly grease to put on hitches, pto stubs and some other stuff occasionally.

I like the JCB grease because it seems good and sticky but mainly it always dispenses without airlocking the gun
