Folks go on about the wheel and the Ferguson system etc but I reckon for agriculture, construction and so many other applications whoever invented the hydraulic cylinder must have saved unknown amounts of man hours and health conditions and given longer life expectations to countless workers

My Dad has always said hydraulics cylinders were the best invention for farming.

But then I saw this;
