Green bean harvester

Whats the issue? Not that I know much
I have never used one ,been asked to operate one next week so I’m looking for some advice how to set it up because no one here has got a clue.

I assume it uses a hedgehog to harvest the beans.
The only ones I have used were FMC harvesters from the 1980's which had been modified to harvest parsley.
These were self propelled
I would guess the first thing is to keep the head as close to the floor as necessary, but never touch it as you will obviously be picking up soil and stones.
The FMC machine had a strange arrangement which worked well. The header pivoted on a full width roller behind the hedgehog
keep the picking speed down ( hedgehog Revs) to as low as gives a decent result, otherwise it can bruise.
The fan at the back blows leaf away and will result in a cloud especially when the wind is in the wrong direction, nothing you can do about it. Too much wind will result in lost beans, too little and too many leaves in the sample

Not a ASA Lift but a bit on another brand. Ensure ground speed and reel speed gives a good clean pick without over thrashing the crop. Check the blower does a good job discarding trash and ensure you aren't feeding too much in creating blockages. Similar to harvesting other crops really. A good operator with commonsense won't find it to hard. Cheers.

Looks very much like the Pixall machine. Need to run slow enough to strip the beans off around 1 mph the reel needs not to run too fast as it can bruise or cut the beans and the fan fast enough to remove the leaves but not too fast to blow the beans away. The self propelled machine is far easier to set than the trailed as you have many more variations. However put some pictures up as beans are my world
