So there is a slurry investment scheme. That's definite.
My understanding were details autumn 21 but that's pushed back to spring 22 with grants available from autumn 22.

There has been some discussion of at risk catchment funding first but I'm alright there.

However it needs to be clean air ready which is definitely covered. Still not really seen a covered lagoon that is likely to work well in the long term.
So I struggle to see what other options that can be offered other than round tower. And mine at nearly 200k with a 40% grant it's very expensive per farm for govt and even more for the farmer.
Is there not a ceiling on the proposed scheme?

There is no info on the proposed scheme.
Ceilings may be part of it. But a 1000 cow herd needs just as much help as a 100cow herd and so a percentage would be fairest.
A low ceiling would also result in poorer quality installations.

However this is all in the hands of beurecrats and they might get it right or spectacularly wrong.

I agree but that backfired up here. The pot will only be so big and they’ll want to do as much environmental good as possible, so pass more onto the farmer. 120k I’d seen mentioned

The only bit of info that I've gathered on the slurry investment scheme is that it will only be available to those who already have 4 months storage.

This came from my catchment sensitive farming officer.

The ea and catchment officers are as in the dark as we are.
The ssafo compliant exists for countryside stewardship.

However you don't need 4 months storage to be ssafo compliant and 4 months is not enough to meet farming rules for water.

However you may be right but targeting the money to those closest to compliance will actually result in the least environmental gain.
But if you've got 4months storage in an earth banked lagoon the only route that planning may allow for you to build six months storage with a cover may be a completely new structure.

it’s really strange how some people love it and others hate it.

Would you still build it without the grant?
Decision on funding and scheme details seem a long way off if you already have planning, add in some crazy price inflation between now and grant approval and the inevitable price hike when “grant” gets mentioned and current quote might seem cheap! Needs a crystal ball really!

Anyone experience of Storth’s systems for green bedding? Our slurry here collects into channels and feeds into a lined lagoon with gravity, do you need reception and holdings tanks for most systems in general.
