Green star not working since update

This seems to be the issue

Problem :

The StarFire™ 3000 & StarFire™ 6000 have the potential to lose signal in specific areas of a field or fields due to external interferences which are totally outside of John Deere’s control. The interferences are caused as a direct result of a newly developed/developing next generation cellular network across Europe. In addition to this, the existing 4G network across Europe is being expanded. One of these enhancements are the utilization of the band 32. This frequency band (Band 32) is transmitting in a frequency range close to the StarFire™ correction signal.

The spectrum was auctioned in 2018 & 2019 and expansion of this network commenced in 2020 but is at varying stages across the different countries in Europe.

Why did the receiver work fine in the past?

The interference is a new constellation that was not in place before. The spreading of this new situation is related to the cellular network.

Why does the receiver still function perfectly on some of my fields?

The signal strength of the interference is not always the same. It depends on the distance to the transmitting source and the transmission power. In urban areas there could be a higher cellular traffic than in rural areas which would affect the intensity of the interference and as a result the performance of your StarFire™ Receiver.

Depending on the expansion status some areas are not affected.

Has my StarFire™ receiver a defect?

No, there is no defect. The StarFire™ receiver is still functioning very precisely in areas where no interference is present. You can try for yourself in other areas which are not affected by this new network development interference.

Can a software update fix that issue?

To diagnose the StarFire™ receiver it is important to have the latest software version loaded. The StarFire™ receiver performance is impacted by external interference. There is no way to prevent this disturbance with a software change. This is hardware related.

What is the solution?

The latest StarFire™ receiver has a new antenna architecture which prevents this kind of interference and others. The StarFire™ 6000 HA and upcoming StarFire™ products are the best and only real option available to be prepared and get the best uptime for your business.
